Choose the course by your role. Every course is free to start, and on most of them you get a certificate the day you pass.
How to choose a course
Which HSE course you need depends on your role and on the work you do. The table below shows who each course is made for, which rule it builds on, how long it takes and what one seat costs. Each course page explains the content and sources in more detail.
If you run a business, the HSE course for managers is the place to start. It covers the training the employer must personally complete in health, safety and environment work, and takes 60 to 90 minutes.
If you have been elected safety representative or sit on the working environment committee (AMU), choose between the 40-hour safety rep course and the shortened course. The shortened course only fits where the parties in the business have jointly concluded that shorter training is sound.
For all employees, first aid and fire safety are the most common courses. The first aid course is documented theory training, and hands-on practice comes in addition. If you work on ladders, scaffolding or roofs, or with chemicals, there are separate courses on work at height and on chemicals and safety data sheets.
If you handle information about customers or staff, the GDPR course is made for you. Managers and HR who follow up sick leave or the working environment in their team will benefit from the courses on sick-leave follow-up and the psychosocial work environment.
Every course is free to start. On most of them you pay only once you pass, and the certificate arrives the same day.
